The idea behind Jimmy the Man Tours is, to not only show people famous tourist attractions like the Mombacho and Masaya Volcano, the Isletas, or colonial Granada, but also to take them to the more authentic rural areas around the city. Here you can really get to know life in Nicaragua and meet its people (‘los campesinos’). You support these families directly by booking your tour with Jimmy.

Background:

Jimmy Mohica is a 33 year old Nicaraguan from Granada with one dream; opening his own sustainable tour company. He'd like to offer tours to the rural areas around his native Granada and share the profits with the campesino families in order to improve their lives and that of their children.

When he meets two Dutch guys, Jaap van 't Kruis and Daan Spits, in Granada in 2007, his life and dream are literally turned into a movie. With their Solotrekkers Foundation they decide to help Jimmy realize his dream and Jaap, a documentary maker himself, records the whole process on film. They also make an internet page to help raise funds so Jimmy can get an education and driver's license.
The project generated an enormous media attention in the Netherlands and Jimmy got a little famous....he got his first chance to come to the Netherlands in January 2010 to promote his tours via Edventure and their stand at the Holiday Fair, the 3rd largest tourism fair in Europe.
