BOUNTY BEACH
Destination, Corn Islands Some fifty miles away from the coast, north east of the Nicaraguan town of Bluefields, you’ll find the Corn Islands, also known as the forgotten tropical paradise in the Caribbean. Swaying palms, sandy white beaches, exotic fruit trees, on the two islands, Big Corn and Little Corn, you will find it all. Previously, the islands used to be a hideaway for pirates and British buccaneers, hence an unknown number of shipwrecks lie in the turquoise bay.
The islanders are descendants of freed slaves or the buccaneers, living mainly from fishing and tourism. Recently, many Miskito Indians from the nearby ‘Miskito Coast’ and Nicaraguans moved to the island so a mix of languages is spoken here. The residents value their relaxed lifestyle, often a relief for the hurried tourist. Hotel You will stay in a comfortable lodge on Big Corn Island. Activities The tourism in the Corn Islands is still in its infancy. Therefore, no large-scale organized tours exist, but you go fishing, diving or snorkeling in small groups. The beaches invite you to a blissful day of doing nothing, enjoying a tropical fruit cocktail.
