PACIFIC HIKE

If you choose this package then you will make a four-day trek starting in the mountains and ending at the beaches of the Pacific coast. Along the way you stay with local families, a unique way to get to know the real Costa Rica! During all of the 4 days you will be accompanied by an English speaking guide. The walks in this package are suitable for hikers with some experience.

DAY 1
Destination:
You arrive in the village of Santa Maria de Dota, located at 5000ft. and about two hours away from the capital of San Jose.

Stay:
You will stay in a simple accommodation of a local family in Santa Maria de Dota

Activities:
After arrival you will visit a local coffee plantation and you will get an explanation about the coffee production process.

DAY 2
Activities:
In the early morning you will go by taxi to the starting point of the hike, from here you will walk 10 miles through the mountains. This hike is of average difficulty.

Stay:
You will stay in Rancho Betania, a basic lodge in the countryside at about 3000ft altitude.

DAY 3
Activities:
Today you will leave after breakfast for a walk of 6 miles. You will descend to the river ‘Bomba’ and rise again to 2700ft. A pleasant walk of average level. After lunch you can walk to the big waterfall near the Rancho where you will spend the night.

Stay:
You will spend the night in Rancho Tinam, a lodge 2 miles away from San Isidro de Santa Maria de Dota. A typical Costa Rican, small village with a church, school and a supermarket.

DAY 4
Activities:
Today’s walk is about 10 miles and your final destination is the village ‘Los Campesinos’. Here, a (late) lunch is waiting for you. In the afternoon you can swim in the river Pozo and explore the beautiful surroundings high up via suspension bridges among the tree tops.

Stay:
You will spend the night at the simple, but comfortable home of a local family.

DAY 5
Activities:
In the morning you walk to the terminus of the trek, Londres de Quepos, where you will have lunch. If you like you can book an extra night in Manuel Antonio, where you can relax on the beach, or continue your trip with your rental car of course.
