Destination Bocas del Toro

The Caribbean archipelago of Bocas del Toro consist of approximately 350 islands and has this typical Caribbean ‘relax, don’t worry be happy’ atmosphere. In the towns you’ll find a large selection of small shops and cozy restaurants and of course visit those breathtaking beaches. There’s excellent surfing, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. The mangrove forests and jungle on the mainland makes this area more interesting.

In recent years Bocas del Toro has become one of the most famous tourist attractions of Panama. Thus construction and development of new hotels and restaurants is under way, but tranquility still prevails.
The main island Isla Colon is the largest and most developed island. Colored wooden houses exude the relaxed Caribbean atmosphere and there’s a good selection of nice restaurants.

Kayaking, biking, hiking, fishing or bird watching, the island offers it all. Or take a water taxi (just a few dollars) to discover the neighboring islands. Isla Colon is definitely an attractive place to hang around for a few days.

Activities

From Colon you can take the boat to Dolphin Bay, where you can spot dolphins in their natural habitat. With a bit of luck you’ll see them swimming around your boat! Care Nero is a small island, minute away by boat from the island Colon. This is a beautiful quiet island and excellent pick nick spot!

On Isla Bastimentos, ten minutes away from Isla Colon, you will find mangrove forests, sea turtles and the Red Frog Beach where you can find small red poisonous frogs in between the leaves on the ground. On the other beaches you can go surfing, snorkeling and diving.
